First Wine Tasting of Fall!

Armeno Coffee Roaster Fall Wine Tasting 2017

September 30th 1-4PM

Domaine Beausejour “Les Grenettes” Touraine

100% Sauvignon Blanc. Grown on the hillsides of the St Roman and Noyers sur Cher, on chalky-clay soils for one side and sand on clay for the other. The vineyard is sustainably farmed. "Les Grenettes" is aged approximately 8 months in stainless steel, on the lees. Aromas of lily, boxwood, honeysuckle, peach and lychees. On the palate; velvety citrus fruit which stays lively and supple. This Sauvignon Blanc finishes with round, luscious citrus notes.

Mi Terruno Torrontes

The family’s Torrontes grapes are grown in alluvial and sandy soils. The vineyard site is a dry, continental climate with great sun exposure, allowing strong ripening. Trained on a pergola trellising system, the 2016 vintage was hand-picked in the first few days of February. Destemmed and crushed with 100% cold skin contact before 25 days of fermentation in stainless steel tank. Aromas of rose, violet and ripe stone fruit. Refreshing on the palate with a dry finish.

Midnight Cellars Chardonnay

Midnight’s Chardonnay is 100% whole cluster pressed and barrel fermented in 20% new French oak. This is a clean, crisp Chardonnay thanks to partial malo-lactic fermentation. With clean minerality the body is crisp with hints of fresh cut green apples, hand squeezed tangerines and racy Asian Pears. After a few months in barrel, this wine is rounded with a luscious touch of vanilla. It’s not too oaky, it’s not too buttery…it’s just right!

Victor Hugo Les Mis Rose

The grapes for Les Mis were hand harvested, crushed, and then cold soaked for 40 hours prior to barreling free run juice for fermentation in seasoned French oak barrels. Aged on its lees passively for 5 weeks prior to bottling. Enticing aromas of strawberries and Mandarin oranges predominate with some subtle hints of lavender in the background. With a somewhat fleshy, supple mid-palate followed a by a clean, crisp finish this is a wonderful example of a richer-styled Rose that can partner with Fall cuisine and even Thanksgiving Turkey!

Grillesino Morellino di Scansano

Morellino is the Maremma clone of the Sangiovese and is cultivated in the Scansano area of Southern Tuscany. Long, hot growing seasons allow grapes to fully ripen with high sugar levels thus allowing for wines that are rich in structure but not difficult.  Many view the Morellino di Scansano as Tuscany's best kept secret. Only released after 10 months in stainless steel, and 3 months bottle conditioning. This unfiltered wine delivers an expressive nose of black cherry, plum, and black fruit aromas. Rich, with ripe black cherries and berry flavors that blend into pleasant acidity and balanced tannins. Excellent with hamburgers, pastas, and anything with red sauce and cheese.

Château Saint Louis La Perdrix Rouge

Located on the Costières-de-Nîmes appellation in the commune of Bellegrade. The estate consists of 50 hectares of vines in one piece. Its climate is sunny and windy. The vines of Château Saint Louis La Perdrix have an average age of 35 years and are planted on soils composed of galet stones rolled by the Rhone and clay-limestone subsoils. This cuvée is composed of 45% Grenache, 35% Syrah and 20% Carignan. The vinification of the cuvée is made in stainless steel tanks, the wine is then assembled and integrated for seven months in tank.

Mi Terruno expresion Malbec

100% Malbec from a vineyard planted in 1910 at 2,297 feet in elevation. Full-bodied and smooth, with warm notes of red cherry and plum leading to flavors of vanilla and violet, with soft, smoky tannins on an elegant finish. Pair with roasted meats, pork tacos or anything from the BBQ.

Zotovich Vineyards Estate Pinot Noir

The Estate Pinot Noir came in during the last week of August, earlier than any of the preceding years at Zotovich. The wine maker was easily able to capture the lushness of Pinot Noir while still retaining the brightness of acidity that is a showcase of Zotovich Vineyards. This vintage spent 12 months in barrel (100% French Oak, 30% New French Oak: 500L Puncheons) before bottling, it then saw 12 months of bottle condition prior to its release. Drinking beautifully, the winery encourages best enjoyment between now and 2019. A little richer style than many STA Pinot Noirs, with a balance expected from a fine Burgundy. Only 625 cases crafted. Wine maker’s dream food pairing: Veal Osso Buco. 93 points ~ Vinous

Chateau Grand Francais ORGANIC Bordeaux Superier

45% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Cabernet Franc aged in French oak barrels for over 10 months. The Chateau is located north of Saint-Emilion on the hillside of the Isle Valley where wines have been cultivated since the 15th century. Ruby robed, this wine expresses elegant aromas of vanilla and spices; after aerating for a few moments, the nose develops notes of warm berry fruit with great complexity. A smooth and ample attack in the mouth, with a well-appointed amount of elegant structure.

Pago Ayles “A” Blend

Winery founded: First harvest in Aylés, 1165; Pago Status achieved, 2010. OWNER: Ramón Family

Vineyard and Winery location: Aragón, Spain. Pago Aylés was founded by Federico Ramón, who in 2003 began his dream of classifying this unique land as the first Vino de Pago in the Aragon region. Just before he died, his dream came true in 2010, as Aylés became the 10th Vino de Pago in Spain. Today his three children continue to produce special wines from this special land. The vineyard site has a long history of winemaking, dating back to the 12th century by Spanish monks. Influenced by the River Huerva and the Monte San Pablo mountain, the soil is a mixture of clay, limestone and chalk – ideal for making high-quality wine. Caves, ravines and old river beds can be found all over the estate, which is brimming with wildlife. “A” Blend: 35% Tempranillo / 35% Merlot / 15% Cabernet Sauvignon / 15% Garnacha. Dark and brooding fruit with polished tannin structure and an everlasting finish. This Spanish blend is layered and utterly sexy.
